Built once.
Built properly.
Extensions, structural alterations, full refurbishments and bespoke carpentry, run by a City and Guilds carpenter who is on your site, not on the phone to it.
Qualified, insured and accountable
A carpenter who took on the whole build.
Harman Building and Carpentry has been working on Worthing and Brighton homes since 2013. It started as carpentry and grew into full building work, because clients kept asking who was going to run everything else.
That carpentry background is still the reason the work looks the way it does. When the person managing your build is the person who has to hang the doors at the end, the walls go up square, the openings get set out right, and nothing gets left for somebody else to fudge.
We take on solid wall Victorian and Edwardian properties, 1930s semis, seafront flats and everything between. Refurbishments, extensions, knock throughs, structural alterations, kitchens, bathrooms, loft and garage conversions, and the joinery to finish them.
More about usFive things, done well, under one contract.
No subcontracting the management out. The person who prices your job is the person running it.
Single and two storey extensions, knock throughs, steels and structural alterations that open a house up properly.
02
Lofts, garages & garden rooms
Turning the space you already own into the room you actually need, fully insulated and signed off.
03
Full refurbishments
Whole house projects taken back to brick and rebuilt, from damp and insulation through to the last coat of paint.
04
Kitchens & bathrooms
The building work behind the fit, done first and done right, so the finish sits square and stays square.
05
Carpentry & joinery
Thirteen years of carpentry underneath everything else we do, and bespoke fitted work when you want it.
Everything good happens before you can see it.
A loft looks its worst about three weeks in. Trusses exposed, brick bare, boards up, every shortcut the last hundred years put in there on full show. That is the point where a job is either won or quietly lost, and it is the part nobody photographs.
We price for what we expect to find up there, and we tell you the day we find something we did not. Head height, spread of the trusses, where the steels have to land. All of it decided before you commit.
Most of what goes wrong on a build has nothing to do with bricks.
It is communication, sequencing and who is accountable when something is uncovered. Here is the honest difference.
Find out what your project costs in ninety seconds.
Answer five questions about what you are planning and the Project Planner builds a real cost range for your property, using current West Sussex build rates. The range appears as you answer. Nothing is hidden behind a form.
- Priced by project type, property age, size and finish level
- Itemised breakdown so you can see where the money goes
- Then a free site visit and a fixed written quote if you want one
Real numbers, before you ever pick up the phone.
Most builders will not put a figure anywhere near a website. We would rather you knew roughly where you stand now than found out after three site visits.

“You will get the person who priced the job on the site doing the job. If something is uncovered we will tell you the day we find it, not the week we invoice for it. And the price you sign is the price you pay unless you change your mind about something.”
